1.6 to 2.7 Million Homeless Youth   Goal $500,000 in 2007

A recent Subcommittee in Washington D.C. produced more staggering statistics on Homeless Youth in America..."There are no reliable statistics on the number of homeless youth, in part because this is a notoriously difficult population to count, and in part because everyone measures the population differently."..."Our best guesses are the following."              "300,000 to 400,000 youth might be expected to be homeless on any given day.  These numbers include the "throw away kids." "Youth using homeless shelters are usually homeless for the first time and have not been homeless very long."

Closer to home there are between 800 and 1,000 youth that are homeless here in this area on any given night. Very few of the street youth use homeless shelters.  The newly homeless or those sleeping couch to couch are not aware of the shelters and are wandering the streets looking for someone to help them.  At times they trade sex, drugs, or anything else they can come up with for a place to sleep.  You can help, make online donations at www.help4hardtimes.org.

Our Phone is Ringing with Youth Who Are Desperate

Every day parents are throwing away their children.  Calls have begun to come in asking us for help.  Three youth called last week who found themselves with no parents and no place to live.  We were able to place one of the three temporarily.  We need your help.  We need an office space, and a building to house these kids.  Please help us locate, fund, renovate and build a place for our community's throw away kids.  We can't do this without your help, get involved today.

Executive Director's Corner In researching homelessness among today’s youth I have discovered that most, if not all public services stop at age 17.  In June the Federal Government began working on the problem but for now once youth turn age 17 including Foster Care and those related services.  Please help us house, train, and love these kids.  Anna Brown, Executive Director
